Elah Terms of Service
Version: 1.0.3
Effective date: November 5, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Michael Lek, trading as Elah AI ("Elah", "we", "us"), about using the Elah app. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use Elah. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. What Elah is
Elah is an AI coach. You talk to it by voice or text about personal goals. It asks questions, helps you make a plan, and checks in with you.
Elah is educational coaching. It is not a person, and it is not a licensed professional. Specifically:
- Not medical care. Elah helps with habits like exercise and sleep. It does not diagnose, treat, interpret symptoms or suggest medication. Health goals are for building habits alongside your doctor. Talk to a doctor before changing your diet or exercise if you have a health condition.
- Not therapy or mental-health care. Elah does not provide counseling, therapy or treatment for any mental-health condition.
- Not financial advice. Elah helps with budgeting and saving. It does not recommend investments or financial products.
- Not legal advice. Elah does not interpret laws or contracts.
When Elah shares what experts have written, it is education. What fits your life is your decision.
In an emergency, do not use Elah. Call your local emergency number: 911 in the US; 119 for an ambulance or 112 for the police in South Korea. If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, contact a crisis line now: in the US, call or text 988; in South Korea, call 109. In other countries, call your local crisis line.
2. AI can be wrong
Elah's replies are made by AI. They can be inaccurate, incomplete or not right for you. Check anything important before you act on it. You are responsible for your own choices.
Some plans are written or reviewed by people on our team.
3. Who can use Elah
You must be at least 18 years old. You must give true information when you sign up, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if someone else uses your account.
During the preview, Elah may be available only by invitation. Preview features may change or be removed, and we may end the preview at any time.
4. Your account
You sign in with Apple, Google or a code sent to your email. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account. You can restore it by signing in within 30 days; after that it is permanently deleted, along with any unused minutes.
5. Calls, reminders and permissions
Elah can call you and send reminders at the times you choose. You can change or turn these off at any time. Elah calls happen inside the app over the internet, not over your phone network, so your mobile data plan may apply. Voice calls and dictation need microphone access.
6. Minutes and payments
- Voice calls use call minutes. Minutes are sold in prepaid bundles through the Apple App Store. Apple handles payment under its own terms.
- Free minutes from an invite expire 30 days after you get them. Purchased minutes never expire.
- Minutes have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. If Apple refunds a purchase, we remove the refunded minutes from your balance.
- If your account is permanently deleted, unused minutes are lost. If we close your account for breaking these terms, unused minutes are lost, unless the law says otherwise.
- If we stop offering Elah, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before, so you can use your minutes.
- We may change prices and bundles for future purchases. A change does not affect minutes you already bought.
7. Accountability partners
You can invite another person to be your accountability partner. A partner sees your name and, for each goal you choose to share, its plan and progress. You can stop sharing a goal or end a partnership at any time. Only invite people who agree to it.
8. Your content
"Your content" is what you say and write to Elah, and your goals and progress. You own it. You give us permission to store, process and use your content to run Elah for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. This includes sending it to the service providers listed there, and letting people on our team read it when they write or review your plan.
9. Rules for using Elah
Do not:
- break the law or use Elah to harm anyone;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or into our systems;
- overload, reverse-engineer or copy the service, except where the law allows;
- use Elah to create abusive or hateful content, or any sexual content involving minors;
- resell Elah or pretend to be Elah.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
10. Our content
The app, its design, its how-tos and its plans belong to us or our licensors. Some how-tos draw on published experts; their names and works belong to them. You may use Elah's content for your own personal use.
11. Changes and ending the service
We may change, pause or stop parts of Elah. If we make a material change to these terms, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Elah after that, you accept the new terms.
12. Disclaimers
ELAH IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT ELAH WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT YOU WILL REACH YOUR GOALS.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR DECISIONS YOU MAKE BASED ON ELAH'S REPLIES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR €100.
These limits do not apply to damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, or to any liability the law does not allow us to limit. Some places do not allow these limits at all, so they may not apply to you.
14. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes will be handled by the Cheongju District Court, Chungju Branch, in the Republic of Korea. If you use Elah as a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or your right to go to court there.
15. Apple
If you got Elah from the App Store, Apple's standard terms for apps (the Licensed Application End User License Agreement) govern your license to use the app itself. These terms govern the Elah service. If the two conflict about the app license, Apple's terms apply. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the Elah service or its content.
16. General
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Elah.
- If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce part of these terms right away, we have not given up the right to do so later.
- You may not transfer these terms to someone else. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization of our business.
- If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without paying you or owing you anything.
- Sections 12, 13, 14 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.
